Final Suggestions for Evaluation Plan for Curriculum Design Proposal:
The goal of the summative evaluation is to ensure that the program provides trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills so that they can fulfill their duties and responsibilities in the assigned roles as a tour guide and information station attendant, as back-end administrative office support, or back-end fundraising support.

Summative Evaluation, Goal 1:
Will show evidence of success when volunteers can independently navigate the museum’s computer system, professionally respond to incoming email, and correctly input data into an Excel database.

To confirm that the outcome matched the intended goals the evaluation will be conducted using a naturalistic approach to observe trainees in a context-specific setting. At the completion of the first training session, an evaluation will include the observation of a sampling of volunteers in their daily activities. A second evaluation will be conducted one-year after the implementation of the training program.

Summative Evaluation, Goal 2:
Positive feedback from visitors and staff observation will be evidence of the volunteer’s ability to accurately answer visitor’s questions and confidently lead tours independently.

To confirm that the outcome matched the intended goals the evaluation will be conducted using a naturalistic approach to observe trainees in a context-specific setting. At the completion of the first training session, an evaluation will include the observation of a random sampling of volunteers in their daily activities. A second evaluation will be conducted one-year after the implementation of the training program.

To ensure the internal validity of the evaluation, the predetermined evaluator will be a visitor of the museum asking specific questions to the volunteers and participating in a tour, then interviewing other tour participants.

Summative Evaluation, Goal 3:
The success of this program will be evident through increased donations and contributions to the museum in response to phone and email requests made to museum patrons by volunteers.

To ensure the internal validity of the evaluation, the predetermined evaluator will be contacted as a potential donor both via email and phone to request a donation and the opportunity to become a patron of the museum.

To confirm that the outcome matched the intended goals the evaluation will be conducted using a naturalistic approach to observe trainees in a context-specific setting. The evaluation would include the observation of a sampling of volunteers in their daily activities one-year after completing the training program. LC I think a year should be noted to be the final evaluation and that we will begin summative evaluations after the first full program of training has been completed.

Summative Evaluation, Goal 2:
Positive feedback from visitors will be evidence of the volunteer’s ability to accurately answer visitor’s questions and confidently lead tours independently.
LC - Can we somehow include observations by the staff or volunteer coordinator?

To ensure the internal validity of the evaluation (selected and prepped - perhaps with objections, etc - ) although email objections must be different...but we're not going there LOL, the evaluator will be contacted as a potential donor both via email and phone to request a donation and the opportunity to become a patron of the museum.

This week, you and your group members will develop a plan for evaluation to be presented in your curriculum design proposal.
For the purposes of your curriculum design proposal, you will focus on developing a plan for summative evaluation. Consider the procedures for summative evaluation described in your learning resources. What might the goals of evaluation be for your group’s curriculum design? What should the indicators of success be, and what would be the best orientation and design for the evaluation?

By Monday, the Week 5 Facilitator should create a page in the group wiki designated for “Evaluation.”

By Tuesday, post to your group wiki a description of the evaluation plan you would recommend be implemented in conjunction with your curriculum design proposal. Include a description of the indicators of success, the orientation of the evaluation, and how the evaluation would be conducted in order to gather the necessary data.
Return to your group wiki and review the evaluation plans posted by your group members. How do your ideas compare with those of your colleagues? Do some ideas overlap? Do the ideas of your colleagues cause you to have a different perspective?

By Wednesday, each group member should post his or her suggestion for the group’s final plan for evaluation. This suggestion should reflect a combination of what you consider to be the best ideas from all group members.
It is the responsibility of the Week 5 Facilitator to review each group member’s suggestion and create a final plan for evaluation that reflects the majority opinion.

By Thursday, the Week 5 Facilitator should post the final plan for evaluation to the group wiki. The plan should include a description of the indicators of success, the orientation of the evaluation, and at least one specific example of how the evaluation would be conducted in order to gather the necessary data. Group members should visit the wiki, review the plan, and use the wiki or other communication means to resolve any disagreements. In addition, the Facilitator should post the URL of this wiki content to the Week 5 area of the Group Project discussion board.
